But for San Pedro, a long-unfulfilled dream of creating alfresco dining in the streets of the port town is quickly and finally becoming a realty. “Outdoor dining is something the community has wanted for 20 or 30 years,” said Tim McOsker, a member of the business improvement district. And while it took the coronavirus pandemic to get it on the fast track, the results, restaurant owners said they hope, will go a long way toward both adding to the downtown’s ambiance and toward helping them stay in business.
